Leave of Absence

Students who need to take a leave of absence from the school must submit, in writing, a signed request for leave. Students on a leave of absence are not considered to be withdrawn from school. Students can only be allowed three leaves of absence per 12-month period, and the leave cannot exceed 60 days per leave. Any student who does not return from the leave of absence on the scheduled date will be withdrawn from school. A student on an approved leave of absence who has notified the school that he/she will not be returning will be withdrawn from the program. The determined date of withdrawal will be the earlier of the date of expiration of the leave of absence or the date the student notifies the school that he/she will not be returning. The withdrawal date for a student who does not notify the school that he/she is not returning will be the date of determination. However, the institutional withdrawal calculation will be based on the last date of attendance. Leave of absence will extend the student’s contract period and maximum time frame by the same number of days taken in the leave of absence.

Withdrawal

Latin Beauty Academy has established that any students have the option to officially withdraw from the school at any time by giving written notification to the school office. Unofficial withdrawal can take place at such time as the student fails to attend classes and has made no contact with the school administration for 30 consecutive days. A grade of “W” will be assigned upon withdrawal determination. Upon withdrawal, official or unofficial, the school’s refund policy will apply and arrangements must be made to pay any balance due to the school. Students will not be permitted to re-enroll in the school with an outstanding balance. Any monies due to the student at the time of withdrawal, official or unofficial, will be refunded to the student within 30 days of the date of determination

Student Diversity

Latin Beauty Academy has established general principles according its student diversity focused on the success for the students, instructor and the learning process, and the institution. Our faculty is advised to treat each student as unique and valuable individual. In the planning day and other professional development preparation open-ended questions are elaborated to solicit students' reports of their experiences or observations without calling on a student to speak for his or her race/gender/culture. Also, learning to pronounce all of the names correctly shows respect for varied backgrounds.

Faculty and staff encourage full participation in practical or theoretical activities while being aware of differences which may influence students' responses, drawing out quieter participants or challenge dominant students in small groups, or talk with students outside of class to provide encouragement.

Faculty applies teaching methods based on content for each topic, taking advantage of different learning styles and to expand the repertoire of strategies tried by each student. The instructors use visual or dramatic presentations, or value personal knowledge and experience when students share it; specifically creating hands-on activities where they bring their experiences from their cultures.

Administration, faculty, and all staff promote a respectful school climate with egalitarian norms and acceptance of differences. Latin Beauty Academy encourages student projects involving diverse perspectives, discuss guidelines for good participation, and monitor language use for implicit assumptions, exclusions, or overgeneralizations.
